Below are a few lines from Celeste Ng's novel Everything I Never told You:
'People decide what you're like before they even get to know you.' She eyed him, suddenly fierce. 'Kind of like you did with me. They think they know all about you. Except you're never who they think you are.'We all make judgements sometimes. We read into things. We assume. Deep down though, don't we want the truth? And don't we owe it to each other to give someone new the time and care to get to know him or her? I believe so.
A poem with content and format (haiku) inspired by recent readings, discoveries & a few fine friends...
Someone New
To you I promise
One hundred percent me, and
Welcome all of you.
